Ithaca Video Project’s focus was on social issues.
We used our equipment to open communications between teenagers and parents who were at odds.
We produced tapes with heroine addicts who hoped to prevent others from turning to drugs.
We documented recent UFO reports in the area by interviewing the residents and showing the burned out grass ring and building that had its foundation moved.
We produced a short animation video from still photographs taken during the construction of a yurt.
We videotaped Timothy Leary during his captivity by the Black Panthers. The Black Panthers were concerned about black youth becoming dis-empowered by the use of drugs such as LSD. They kidnapped Timothy Leary and his spouse for a short time, in hopes that their message would gain media attention and be broadcast to reach black youth. We were successful in helping the message reach the media, which helped to facilitate the Leary’s release.
We visited Canadian Film Board – discussed our video/film projects (past and future)

¨Mose Henry’s Star Child Journey begins with perfect harmony, the balance of our masculine and feminine powers, creating peace of mind, personal prosperity, and peace on this planet. His self-health educational technique is reflected in the words of Silverhawk:
“We all have a song of the soul, which reflects our journey through life. By learning to bring ourselves into harmony with our own being we will become our Greatest Selves.”
“The elders say we have been all persons through all seasons. And as our horizons expand into the future and the past, we see with New-Eyes, and feel with a New Heart.”

¨I also worked with staff on creating interesting spots that would artistically please the advertising client and motivate the tourists to visit the locations, insuring opportunities for contract renewals.

Reaser later arranged the composition for electronic instrumentation. He and a fellow musician/composer played samples of voices, providing the textural waves, and synthesizers providing the percussion articulations, and I, the live voice, for this interpolation of Edgar Allen Poe’s poem A Dream within a Dream.
¨The concert was sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance and Music Central, along with the Student Government Board, and was promoted through the Student Activities Committee and the Music Department.

1993 September 13 Tacoma Artist Series, Tacoma, Washington
Musician Healer
¨I participated in The Municipal Dock Street Sound Installation, designed by Paul Panhuysen of The Netherlands and instrumented by Dan Senn of Tacoma, Washington. The City of Tacoma provided funding to reopen an historic building (closed for over fifty years) for one night of experimental sound healing performance.
¨I was granted permission by Panhuysen to privately set up and play my crystal bowls in the afternoon of performance day.
¨The building extended out over the waters of the Puget Sound. Whales often swim nearby. We strung piano wires, connecting the building’s beams to fretted metal barrels, tuning to the Fibonacci Series. “Musicians”, an array of professional musicians and everyday “street people, entered the performance area when given the head-nod of Conductor Paul Panhuysen. The “audience”, five hundred people at a time, was encouraged to move around the outer edges of the performance space, placing their ears close to the beams and walls of the building.
¨The event extended to three performances, going well into the night, to accommodate those individuals who stood in line for hours, hoping to be witness to such an event.
¨My “Letter to the Editor” about the experience was published in the 25 September 1993 edition of The News Tribune, Tacoma, Washington. I was in awe of the facial expressions, of both musicians and audience members alike, for all had entered into the same “time and space” and had come together in oneness.
¨Paul Panhuysen discussed other large sound installations he had designed for places around the world, during my interview with him. Each was unique to the locale, but he felt none had been as successful and well received as this one in Tacoma.

PERSONAL STATEMENT/OVERVIEW:
Written 1999
Written to accompany a multicultural mixed gender team Family Health Proposal:
Unofficially presented to individual(s) within the health network in Egypt in hopes of seeding thoughts that could/would be able to be implemented in less time than it would take to formally apply and gain required government and agency approvals/funding.
The commitment to education within Family Health continues in Egypt.
Perhaps the videotape Season of Planting Girls, (In Egyptian Arabic with English subtitles) and its public viewings and discussions within local communities demonstrate some of the ideas presented in our unofficial proposal.

MY PERSONAL STATEMENT/OVERVIEW:
My life has been an adventure – a discovery of:
- what is it to live in a world of difficulties and limitations,
- how to go beyond limitations, turning difficulties into opportunities for greater understanding,
- learning and relearning about the roles of female and male, and
- effective communications.
My journey is about integration: of science and art, of education and interpretation, of beliefs and myths, of religion and philosophy, of man’s laws and the higher laws.
My education, life-experiences, and professional challenges and achievements, center on the theme of personal empowerment and upliftment of the human spirit.
Beginning in my university days, I tackled child abuse, education, and institutions. I utilized the performing arts to bring awareness into areas of ethics and social policy. I was credited for independent study beyond course curriculums, combining professional opportunities within academic structures. I blazed trails wherever I saw opportunity: being the first woman to hold an office or paid position, creating new directions within education and community institutions, forming partnerships with people of all nations, of all ages, and of differing economic stations.
All these experiences built confidence in my abilities to successfully tackle difficult situations with intelligence and compassion:
(1) to discern and assess, through in-depth interviewing and gathering of information; (2) to propose new ideas and ways of thinking; (3) to plan and develop successful programs and events; (4) to demonstrate responsibility and accountability through leadership skills; (5) to delegate duties and instill trust; (6) to motivate and inspire myself and others; (7) to manage people and funds in a timely manner; (8) to effectively implement plans and programs; and (9) to follow through, compile reports and evaluations, and provide recommendations for future focus, growth, and development.
I enjoy collaboration, embrace opportunities for change and growth, and listen to the ideas of others, looking for ways to improve and enhance effectiveness.
Women’s health, gender education and communication, and overall family health, are all important to the health of future generations. Survival is not enough. Individuals must learn how to “live life…to become fully alive” in order to realize their human potential. Much thought has gone into creating this proposal. It is my hope to be able to assist the beautiful people of the land that I love – and to serve Egypt! |
